Some good news from Milwaukee County

We received word this morning that Milwaukee County Chairman Lee Holloway recently made some changes to the members of the Personnel Committee that originally approved the domestic partner health care benefits resolution back in October.

Apparently, they were good changes because this morning the recently rearranged Personnel Committee voted to recommend that the full Milwaukee County board sustain County Exec Scott Walker’s veto of the measure.  The vote was 5-2 in favor of sustaining the veto.

This is very good news because the full, 19-member committee is meeting this Thursday, Dec. 17, when they have to vote to either sustain or override Walker’s veto.

    “Domestic partner” benefits are a bad idea, not just because we are in a bad economy. It is always a bad idea to waste money, good economy or bad. And, it is always a bad idea for government, at any level, to give approval for sin, no matter whether it is gay or straight. That’s it.
