“Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”
~~John Jay (1745-1829) Founding Father
The well-attended “Religious Liberty-Restoring the Constitution” event at Highland Community Church in Wausau hosted by Wisconsin Family Council left Wisconsin folks encouraged, informed and inspired. Rick Green of Dave Barton’s Wallbuilders was the keynote speaker for the evening.
Green walked attendees through Constitutional history, making note of the steps our Founding Fathers put into place to ensure government remained “the people,” reminding all that if freedom comes from the government, the government can surely take it away.
Green further explained how the Founders wanted future generations to “live out” their faith, and that each must “earn” their freedom to pass on to the next generation, and the next.
The younger crowd was also addressed by Green, who called them the “salt and light” of our world. He invoked the passion and talent given by God Himself as something to hone and use to preserve the freedoms being passed on to them.
Green also challenged the full house to “study the Constitution,” stating, “If you don’t know what your freedoms are, how can you defend them?” He called upon all to know and understand the Constitution furthering, “Our Founding Fathers gave their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. What will you give to preserve freedom?”
Wisconsin Family Council president Julaine Appling affirmed Green’s call to action, pointing out the myriad of ways a citizen may take part in protecting Constitutional freedoms. For her opening speech to the event, click HERE.
“One of the reasons I do what I do is because I believe it would be reprehensible and unforgivable for us to give up what God has so richly blessed with, which is the freedom to share the gospel around the world.” ~~Julaine Appling
