From the desk of WFA president Julaine Appling:
Our US Constitution and our Wisconsin Constitution speak pretty clearly about religious freedom. In fact, they use pretty strong words such as “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” and from the Wisconsin Constitution: The right of every person to worship Almighty God according to the dictates of conscience shall never be infringed.” Just for the record, the Wisconsin Constitution mentions “Almighty God” twice—once in the preamble, where the opening words say, “We, the people of Wisconsin, grateful to Almighty God for our freedom.” I’m surprised Freedom From Religion Foundation hasn’t made an all-out assault on the Wisconsin Constitution. Perhaps I shouldn’t give them any ideas.
Sadly, Freedom From Religion Foundation probably figures that the words “Almighty God” buried in the Wisconsin Constitution aren’t much of a problem since few people even know they are there. Freedom From Religion Foundation and other anti-Christian organizations are more interested in trampling the real-life rights of people of faith.
